I was diagnosed with bowel
cancer in 1994 which lead to having an operation to removed the cancer -
given the all clear six months later.
I had no more problems until September 2001 when I developed jaundice,
which was in the form is itching under my skin. I had CT scans etc. and
was told I had a tumour on my liver, which could not be operated on as it
was too close to a main artery. I was told that within twelve months I
would be very very ill or perhaps dead. I was offered chemotherapy but
turned that down, as I didn't feel it would help me. I also had a Stent
Tube fitted from my liver to the bile duct to stop the jaundice.
I was then sent to another hospital for a second operation and was told
it was possible to have an operation to have the tumour removed, but the
chances of success were about one in three. After more tests the odds
changed to about one in five. I decided not to have the operation or
chemotherapy as I thought the chances were not good enough. |
