We have a special line in
pendulums, which we call our "Native Woods
Selection". These pendulums are hand made for us from woods
indigenous to our country. The timber comes from the Borders and
Northumbria. It is wood which grows on the land around
that area, and is cut in the course of necessary management of the
trees. It grows in an area of great natural beauty. They are hand turned
by a craftsman who knows and loves the wood he uses, and each one has
its own individual character.
Carry your
pendulum around with you for a while, and perhaps sleep with it under
your pillow. Handle it often so that it feels almost part of you.
Choose it with care, because it will become an extension of your arm,
a way of making your intuition and inner knowing visible. It is your own vibrations that make it work for you, so trust
your pendulum.
Sit down and
relax. Your arm needs to be free of tension, so that nothing stops the
flow of energy reaching your fingertips. Hold your pendulum
comfortably, and let it hang, being aware of its weight and how it
feels. It is really hard to be motionless, because we are living
breathing beings, with blood coursing through our veins, vibrant with
energy. The pendulum will
respond naturally, and sooner or later start to move in a rhythmic
manner. If it is slow in responding don’t worry, just be patient.
It’s not easy to relax when you are eager to begin. Try again later.
Like everything else, it is something we learn to do, and that
requires practice.
You
will find that the pendulum chooses its own movement. It may swing back
and forth, or side to side or It may rotate. It may sometimes seem very
undecided! You may notice that it goes at different speeds, and you can experiment
with the length of the chain to find out how this makes a difference. How
you hold it also affects the movement, and holding it palm up may well be
different to palm down. Now is the time to experiment.
Any
question you ask must be simple, direct and have a straightforward yes or
no answer. Ask a question which has a simple "yes" for the
answer and note what movement the pendulum makes. When you ask another
one, which has "no" for the answer, it will make a different
movement. How that you have established how you can interpret its
movements. Just remember, the pendulum is not answering, its that part of
you which we call our intuition. Every dowser is different and these is no
right or wrong way for the pendulum to go. For some "yes"
answers it may be a swing, and "no" answers a circle, or vice
versa. For others it may circle anti-clockwise, then clockwise. There are
endless permutations or this theme, so just stick with your initial
discovery because this will work for you.
When
you get to be good at this you may come up against a problem. When you
desperately want a particular answer to a question, you may find that the
pendulum gives you what you want, and then you are disappointed when it
seems to were given the wrong answer. At this point you may be tempted to
throw it away in disgust. There is a very simple reason for this, which
you may as well learn about at the onset. The mind is very powerful. A
strong-minded person can make a pendulum do anything. It is possible to
will anything, and sometimes wanting too much, leads us astray. Remember
we are trying to access our inner selves, the wise bit, and our intuition!
So when you ask your question remind yourself of this, and remember that
we don't always know what is best for us, so try to keep your mind out of
it. Think of something completely different as you let your pendulum
swing, if you think that your mind could influence the outcome.
